Smith & Wesson Model 1 1/2 Second Issue
Made from about 1868 to 1875 these were an improvement over the first issue with the cylinder stop on the top strap and a more stream-lined appearance. The cylinders were fluted, the frame more refined and lighter and the grips bird's head shaped compared to the square butts of the first issue. This one is nickel plated, which is about 75% intact. The hinge is tight and strong, there is no play in the cylinder and the action is crisp. The rosewood grips are very fine, without missing chips or cracks, and 80% plus original varnish and minor handling marks. Decent bore, sharp rifling, moderate pitting. 3 1/2 inch barrel, .32 rim fire long. SN# 111278. Rated very fine overall.
